I’ve always been interested in music since very small, we always had the radio on in the house and fondly remember the introduction of Radio One in 1967, listening to classic radio shows on my little personal transistor radio, plugging the ear-piece in and listening to Fabulous 208 Radio Luxemburg under the bed-covers. I loaded before joining the Royal Navy and presented radio shows whilst on HMS Blake.
Growing up I used to regularly go to the festivals and saw many of the legendary gigs and festivals of the late 1970 and early 1980s. I’ve been Djing, since 1992,
running my own mobile disco, Reflex Roadshow, many South Norfolk residents
would have seen me playing at Bawburgh Glen Lodge over the past 17 years at the
Christmas and New Year Party evenings.
I enrolled at the University of East Anglia as a mature student in 2015studying
Modern History at Undergraduate and now Master’s level. My dissertation thesis
detailed growing up in Norwich and the vibrant music scene centered around the
Orford Cellar.
For the past 4 years I have presented two specialist shows, All Mod Cons and
History Lessons on Livewire1350, the UEA’s own student radio station. I received a
station award of the best specialist presenter in 2017. Growing up a backdrop of sixties
soul and reggae music, I’m really looking forward to working on Radio Wymondham
presenting Backstreet; a show featuring the very best Motown, Rhythm and Blues
and Soul that influenced both the Mod and Northern Soul generation
